The Clash

THE CLASH

Marking the fortieth anniversary of the band’s seminal third album, ‘London Calling’, the exhibition will run at the Museum of London from November 15th 2019 until Spring 2020 and will be free for fans to enter. Some of the items on show at the exhibition include Joe Strummer’s note book with early lyrics to ‘London Calling’ and Paul Simonon’s broken bass guitar after the musician famously smashed his guitar on stage with The Clash at The Palladium in New York City.

The exhibition will also include some handwritten album sequence notes by Mick Jones, Strummer’s typewriter and Topper Headon’s drum sticks – the only item of Headon’s that remains from this time.

Ozzy Osbourne

OZZY OSBOURNE

So, the greatest news this week is that a new book has revealed that Ozzy Osbourne is in fact a genetic mutant. (I’m not making this up) Bill Sullivan, who is a genetic research professor at the Indiana University School of Medicine, makes the claims in his new book Pleased to Meet Me: Genes, Germs and the Curious Forces that Make Us Who We Are.

Sullivan uses a study by Gnome, a Massachusetts-based research company who studied Ozzy’s DNA in 2010 to work out how he had managed to live so long despite his extensive alcohol and drug use.

Sullivan concludes that “Ozzy is indeed a genetic mutant” who has managed to stay alive so song thanks to a quirk in his DNA which has made him resilient to years of substance abuse.

Foo Fighters

FOO FIGHTERS

Foo Fighters want fans to make requests for their Reading & Leeds festival setlist. The 'Best of You' hitmakers will headline both events - which take place over the same weekend on August 23-25 - later this month and they have called out for their passionate audience to have their say when it comes to what songs the rockers will play.

Taking to Twitter, the band simply said: "So what songs do you wanna hear? #RandL19" Which is nice!!!

Foo Fighters - Dave Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Schiflett, Nate Mendel, Pat Smear and Rami Jaffee - top a stacked main stage line up at the event, with A Day To Remember, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Enter Shikari, Mayday Parade and The Distillers amongst the big names confirmed for the same day.
