The legendary Eric's Club was a music club in Liverpool, England. It was located on Mathew St, just opposite The Cavern Club and opened on October 1, 1976. It is famous for hosting the early performances of many punk and post-punk bands and played host to many bands such as OMD, The Stranglers, Ultravox, Buzzcocks, Siouxsie & the Banshees, The Slits, Wire, XTC, New Order, Elvis Costello, Joy Division, The Clash, Ramones, Sex Pistols & many more. The club also acted as a spring-board for many local musicians, who would later become successful including Echo & the Bunnymen. The club was given the name 'Eric's' by Ken Testi as an antidote to disco clubs with names such as 'Tiffany's' and 'Samantha's'.
